Eating Stories

Eating Stories

Eating Stories was the recreation of part of my earlier installation Teddy Factory in the massive vaults of Shunt, as part of the exhibition ‘Art in Industry’. This time the installation grew to double its size, having a massive board of 12 x 6 meters as a base. Painted plywood boards were cut to shape and bulbs, cables, bicycle wheels and found objects were attached to the mural.

This yellow massive monster feeds from stories of humans. His tongue is full of words he will swallow but also transform as they enter his machine-like bowels. The girl hanging from the creature’s arm is afraid of the monster but also fascinated by him, portraying the human fear of change and simultaneous clinging to life.

It was my first time working in this amazing venue, Stories was created in 3 days thanks to the help of the production team from Shunt. Thanks to: George, Leigh, Maurizio, Orlando, Louise, Tom, Belinda, Benjamin, Zoltan, Goz.
